Keep these general best practices in mind as you share your story with others:
- Be yourself! People follow you because you’re you, so let your personality shine through. Be transparent as you share your stories.
- Stand out. Keep an eye on what others in the industry are posting to stay up-to-date on what others are talking about—and plan posts that are different from what everyone else is doing.
- Post regularly. Posting consistently and strategically will ensure more people see your content.
- Follow the 80/20 rule. 80% of your content should inform, entertain, and educate. Only 20% of your content should directly promote your business. By using this rule, your followers will get used to seeing—and enjoying—your content, and they’ll be more likely to engage when you do talk about the business and products.
- Use visuals. Posts that include a video, picture, or graphic are 78% more likely to get engagement.
- Be responsive. Show your followers you’re listening by responding to their comments. This interaction helps your posts be visible to more people, too.
- Know your audience. Pay attention to which posts your followers are engaging with. This will help you identify your audience so you can create content specifically for them (rather than trying to target everyone).
- Encourage action. Ask your followers to like, comment, tag others, and share your posts. The more engagement you get, the more the platform will make sure people see your posts.
